Solving problems with voting

What if a voter has have trouble entering a polling place or waiting in line because of a disability?

All St. Louis County polling places are required to be ADA accessible. But if a voter has trouble entering a polling place or waiting in line due to a disability, the voter can ask to vote curbside. Poll workers will bring a ballot out to the voter’s car. Call the St. Louis County Board of Elections at 314-615-1800 for more information on how to vote curbside.

What if poll workers say a registered voter is not on the list, or won’t accept a voter’s ID?

If when you arrive at your chosen polling place, the poll workers say you are not on the registered voter list or decline to accept your ID, you can ask to vote on a provisional ballot. The Election Board will then check your name, address, and signature against their records and if you are a registered voter and your signature matches, your vote will still be counted.

What if a voter is registered, but does not have the right form of ID to show at the polls?

If a registered voter’s ID has been lost or stolen or expired too long ago to use at the polls, the voter can still request a provisional ballot and have their ID verified by the Board of Elections using the signature matching process mentioned above.
